Maya Gold & Silver
Operational Mines
Maya Gold & Silver’s goal is to create shareholder value by generating revenue and robust growth through acquisition and exploration programs. Our experienced team of directors and officers have, between them, opened and operated several precious and base metal mines around the world. Maya is concentrating its efforts on developing its flagship project, the Zgounder Silver Mine, to commercial production and also plans to conduct pre-economic assessment study on the Boumadine polymetallic deposit.
Our portfolio of Moroccan properties includes: Zgounder mine – In January 2012, Maya acquired 85% of this past silver producer. The operation includes a 185t/day cyanidation plant which produced over 655,000 ounces of silver per year from 1982 until weak silver prices forced closure of the mine in 1990. The Company has invested between 2012-15 approximately $20M overall on the Zgounder project. Maya restarted production in July 2014. Boumadine Polymetallic Deposit – In February 2013, the Corporation has entered into a joint venture with L’Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) to acquire 85% of Boumadine. The project was operational from 1989-1992 and has a historical mineral resources estimate (1998). In the near term, Maya plans to conduct metallurgical and exploration work with the aim to conduct a PEA NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource and reserve estimates. Maya plans to develop the Boumadine project in two phases. First by retrieving gold and silver from the surface tailings, second by extracting and processing material from underground resources. Amizmiz and Azegour properties – These licences cover over 100 square kilometres in a historical mining district with both precious and base metal mineralization. Mining permit # 233263 – This is a highly-prospective exploration property adjacent to Imiter mine, among the top ten silver producers in the world. Maya also owns the Touchkal property and nine exploration permits. All of these properties are located in Morocco.
